Donald Wayne Pilant, 83, at 7 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 18, 2010 at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute.
He was born Sept. 4, 1926 in Vigo County to John and Myrtle (Downs) Pilant.
He married Carrie Lee (Mullens) Pilant on Jan. 26, 1947 and she preceded him in death on Dec. 3, 2007
Surviving relatives are daughter and son-in-law Rita and Jeff Sisk of Lewis; son and daughter-in-law Virgil and Yvonne Pilant of Lewis; daughter-in-law Patty Pilant of Farmersburg; sister Betty Lambermont of Greencastle; brother Raymond and Mona Pilant of Crown Point; grandchildren Michelle and Brian Curry, Marci and Jeff Holley, Brad Pilant, Jennifer and Terry Burns, Cindy Pilant, Greg and Dara Pilant, Jessica Keller, Amy and Cameron Dickson and Jason and Kristi Mills; 23 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Julia Pilant and Dorothy Pilant both of Jasonville, and Norma Bemis of Coalmont.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carrie Lee Pilant; son, Walter Pilant; great grandson, Chance Hadley; and brothers, John Pilant and David Pilant.
He had worked at Quaker Maid and General Housewares in maintenance. He graduated from Coalmont High School in 1944, was drafted into the Army in 1945, was an avid reader, enjoyed mushroom hunting, farming, and liked to travel and camp.
He was in the Army.
Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. on Thursday, and 9 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the funeral home.
Service is at 1 p.m. on Friday at Cox Funeral Home, 218 South Meridian St, Jasonville with Pastor David Smith officiating.
He will be buried at Friendly Grove Cemetery, Lewis.
