Virginia Mae (Query) Tucker, 81, died on Jan. 22, 2010 at her rural Spencer residence.
Born in Cataract on July 23, 1928, to Clyde and Flona (Everly) Query, she was the third of their 12 children. Except for a few years in early childhood, she lived her life in Owen County.
Virginia attended the one-room Splinter Ridge School and graduated from high school at Patricksburg, where a couple of her favorite subjects were history and poetry. She loved to read and write and maintained numerous lifelong "Pen Pal" relationships. While raising her family, she worked at RCA. After retirement, she devoted as much time as possible to outdoor projects, especially flower gardening.
She is survived by four children, Linda Jo (Jeff) Spicer of Switz City, Nancy Kay (Dan) Hetser and Steven Ophard Tucker of Gosport, and Lyle Duane Tucker of Spencer; two sisters, Frances Woolard and Patricia Newforth; five brothers, Clyde Junior, Marvin, Oran, Leland and Donald Query. In addition she leaves five grandchildren, Tara Padgett, Lindsey Broshears, Amber Spicer, Kelli Bennett and Trent Hetser; five great-grandchildren, Dustin and Dakota Cheeseman, Jaden Padgett and Trevor and Brandt Broshears, and numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, Paul Ryan White and four brothers, Walter, Jackie, Paul Max and Steven Query.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer. A graveside service will be conducted at Macedonia Cemetery in Lafayette Township at 11 a.m. on Thursday. Pastor Dick Poff will officiate.
