Robert Norman McKean, 84, of Evansville passed away Feb. 16, 2010 at West Columbia Healthcare Cener in Evansville.
He was born in Indianapolis on Sept. 25, 1925 to Frank and Mary E. "Deal" McKean.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
He married A. Dorene Thompson on July 21, 1961 and she survives.
He served his country with the U.S. Navy from Oct. 2, 1942 to March 6, 1946, earning the American Area Victory Medal and Asiatic Pacific Good Conduct Medal. Robert was in the U.S. Air Force from Jan. 16, 1951 until Dec. 10, 1951, receiving the Good Conduct Medal, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation and Korean Service Medal with three Battle Stars. He retired from NWSC Crane.
He is survived by his wife, Avasia Dorene McKean of Evansville; a son, Lawrence McKean of Linton; four daughters, Lora Smith of Evansville, Lana Friede of Linton; Linda McKean of Springville and Lenore McKean of Bloomfield; seven grandchildren, Karie McKean, Jessie Friede, Sara Friede, Ashley Smith, Haley Smith, Nathan Smith and Evan Smith; two great-grandchildren, Domino Goforth and Micale Harrison.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. (EST)Saturday at Brosmer-Kemple Funeral Home in French Lick. Burial will be in Ames Chapel Cemetery, with full military honors by Water Benson American Legion Post No. 76 in French Lick.
Friends may call at ther funeral home from 1 p.m. Saturday until the time of service.
