James Cooksey, 87, of Linton, passed away at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 2010 at Linton Nursing and Rehab.
He was born in Greene County, Sept. 15, 1922, the son of Victor and Fannie Terhune Cooksey. He married Dorothy Parks February 16, 1946 and she survives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Ermil Cooksey.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he retired from Crane Navel Base, was a member of Nine Mile Church, and the Linton American Legion Post #22.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy Parks Cooksey; three sons, Mike Cooksey of Linton, Bill Cooksey (Teresa) of Linton, Steve Cooksey of Carlisle; one daughter, Sandra Hamilton ( James) of Pensacola Fla.; one brother, Paul Cooksey of Kevil, Ky.; one sister, Nina White of Linton, 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at the Dugger Cemetery with the Rev. Loran Mejean officiating. There will be a private family visitation.
