He had worked as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for Summerfield GMC in Gary, Hardings, Inc. in Lowell, and McAllister in Washington.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife whom he married on May 24, 1975, Helen M. (Adams) Carroll of Linton; his mother, Gerretie Carroll of Wheatfield; seven daughters, Tracy (Jared) Benavides of North Judson, Tammy (Luke) Vandercar of LaPorte, Tonia (Mathew) Johnson of Linton, Teresa Carroll (Karl Koenig) of Lafayette, Tiffany (Scott) Flueckiger of Lafayette, Tabatha Carroll of Lafayette, and Tina Carroll of Linton; a son, Timothy Carroll of Linton; three brothers, John (Leslie) Carroll of Minong, Wisc., Casey (Cheryl) Carroll of Greenwood, and Joe Carroll of Lake Village; two sisters, Edna (Ed) Small of Hutto, TX and Mary (Jay) Guritz of Wheatfield; and six grandchildren, Emma, Evia, Levi, Brandon, Ethan, and Audrey.
He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Charles Carroll; and a sister, Lila Zak.
Funeral service will be held at the Linton First Christian Church at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 8, 2010, Archie Ellett officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Hamline Chapel in Monroe City.
Visitation will be held Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M., and at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.
