Thanks for making Marsh Madness

a big success

To the Editor:

This past weekend was the inaugural Marsh Madness festival. By all accounts, the festival was a resounding success. There were 153 people at the kick-off dinner and nearly 600 people who came through the doors of the Roy Clark Building on Saturday.

I want to once again thank the sponsors for their foresight in supporting Marsh Madness. The sponsors were: Utilities District of Western Indiana REMC, Peabody Energy, Linton Family Pharmacy, Triple H Gun Club & Grill on the Hill, Camp Refuge, Bloomfield State Bank, Regions Bank, MainSource Bank, Shields Hardware, Mercury Cleaners, Bender Lumber & Worthington Antiques. Marsh Madness would not have been the success it was without the financial support of these local businesses. Thank you all.

In addition to the sponsors' financial support, there was an incredible amount of support from organizations and volunteers. First and foremost, I want to thank Mayor Jones and the City of Linton for their support. Without the city's support Marsh Madness would still only be an idea instead of an up and coming festival that will eventually grow to a county-wide event. I also want to thank the Greene County Daily World for its generous coverage leading up to the event.

There was an army of volunteers who are too numerous to name. Thank you so much for donating your time and expertise. Local organizations that provided the lion's share of volunteers included; Linton Civitan, Friends of Goose Pond, Linton Rotary, Carnegie Heritage and Arts Center, Linton Public Library, Sassafras Audubon Society, Linton First Christian Church and Greene County Tourism Advisory Board. The volunteers were the backbone of this event and you all have my most sincere thanks.

Finally, thank you to all the many people who spent part of their Saturday with us. We hope you enjoyed Marsh Madness and look forward to seeing you for Marsh Madness in 2011.
