Norman Edgar Asbury, 85, of South Bend and formerly of Jasonville, passed away Sunday evening, March 7, 2010, at Elkhart Hospice House in Elkhart.
He was born in Coalmont on March 27. 1924 to Ross and Lena Bell (Hallmark) Asbury.
He worked at Studebaker until they closed, after which he worked at Sellmer's Music Company, from where he retired.
He enjoyed many outdoor activities, including fishing, hunting and gardening.
He was a member of the Calvert Rod and Gun Club.
Norman is survived by his daughter, Debra Shultz, of Lakeville, IN; nine grandchildren, Carrie and husband Daniel Ault, Lindsey Shultz, Timothy Shultz, Ashley Shultz, Jeremy Shultz, Zachery Shultz, Brittany Shultz, Christy Shultz, and Mackenzie Shultz; two great-grandchildren (Anna and Angus Ault); and numerous extended relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Norma Jean (Miller) Asbury, in 2001; sister, Helen Lutes; and brothers, Howard Asbury and Jim Asbury.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at McClanahan-Lee Funeral Home in Jasonville, under the direction of Stuart M. Snow, with Pastor Ken Walker officiating.
Burial will follow at Peavey Cemetery in Howesville.
Visitation will be 6-- 8 p.m., Friday, March 12, at the funeral home.
