Roy Lee was born on December 1, 1927 to Dewey and Eliza Mansfield Floyd.
He had three brothers, Donald Floyd, Ray Byers, and Orval "Bub" Byers; and four sisters, Marjorie Floyd Sipes, Mary Byers Boruff, Nellie Byers Hardesty and Viola Byers Harris.
On September 5, 1948, he married Betty Smith. They had three daughters, Susie, Nancy and Lori.
Floyd was a 1946 Bloomfield High School graduate, and he attended Indiana State University. He was an independent Shell Oil Jobber, Marathon Gas distributor, and he and Betty owned Floyd's Paint and Wallpaper store in Bloomfield. Floyd was a musician, both playing guitar and singing for many years.
He was a member of the Bloomfield Church of Christ, and was active in the Lion's Club and Bigger Booster Club. He was an avid supporter of Bloomfield School activities before his retirement, sponsoring youth league teams and donating to school events.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, and his wife.
He is survived by his daughters and their spouses, Susie and Larry Goodman of Bloomington, Nancy and Rick Hudson of Bloomfield, and Lori and Sean Vandeventer of Mitchell.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Christy (Goodman) and Michael Hilton of Greenfield, Carla (Hudson) and Ryan Priest of Bloomfield, John and (Andrea) Hudson of Mitchell, and twins Zachary and Megan Vandeventer of Mitchell. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren: Elaine and Emma Hilton, Elizabeth and Travis Priest, and Lauren, Maggie and Allison Hudson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield on Monday, April 5 from 3 to 8 p.m. and the service will be on Tuesday, April 6 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice of Bloomington Hospital Greene County Unit.
