Gary was born on Jan. 24, 1940 in Koleen, Ind., the son of Carl and Venita (George) Gilmore.
Gary was a 1957 graduate of Oolitic High School and worked at Victor Oolitic Stone Mill, Westing House, American Farm Lines Trucking Company, Wetterau, Swift Trucking and retired from NSWC Crane in 2005. He was an Army veteran and a member of the Bloomfield American Legion Post 196 and the Bloomfield First Christian Church.
Surviving relatives include his wife Jill (Seals) Gilmore of Bloomfield, two sons Cameron (Amy) Gilmore of Bloomfield and Shane (Sherri) Gilmore of Stafford, Va.; one sister Dorothy Moyer of Sullivan and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Carlos (Butch) Gilmore.
Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 18 at the First Christian Church in Bloomfield.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 18 at the First Christian Church in Bloomfield with the Rev. Arlen Pope and the Rev. Dave Wilde officiating. Interment will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Bloomfield at a later date with the Bloomfield American Legion Post 196 having Military graveside services.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes all donations be made to the Bloomington Hospital Hospice of Greene County.
