Dorothy Rose Lannan, 94, of Auburndale, Florida and formerly of Newberry, passed away at 2:40 a.m. Sunday, April 25, 2010 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, Florida.

Born February 4, 1916 in Evansville, she was the daughter of William and Emma (Chipps) Gartner.

She was a bible teacher and mentor to many and a member of the Harvest Community Church in rural Bloomfield.

Surviving relatives include: her children and their spouses, Daniel L. and Paula Schaffer of Newberry, James D. and Brenda Schaffer also of Newberry and Sharon and Phil Harris of Indianapolis; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Horace Schaffer in 1960 and her second husband, Albert Lannan in 1977.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday at Harvest Community Church in Bloomfield, with Rev. Jeff Williams officiating.

Interment will follow in the Newberry Cemetery.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Saturday at the church, located three miles south of Bloomfield on state road 231, turn east on County Road 400. The church is one mile on the right.

Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Harvest Community Church.
