Musical director

thanks supporting cast

To the Editor:

I'm writing to acknowledge some very helpful people. These people have worked tirelessly to make the annual spring musical at Linton-Stockton High School, "The Boy Friend" a success.

Tammy Young was a fantastic help to our program. She worked tireless to coordinate snacks for students after school and during practices, and she volunteered to help in any way during the show. She helped organize the costume closets, as well as other tasks that needed to be completed. She was a tremendous help and we greatly appreciated it all!

Erin Henderson, the art teacher here at the high school, did a tremendous amount of work, and went well above and beyond the call of duty. Her artistic talents not only led the students in the right direction, but also gave this show a true set, and made it magical to say the least. Her work was instrumental in this musical, and she was appreciated!

Mike Puckett and his students did an amazing job in the pit orchestra, and gave this show the flare we were missing. His guidance and expertise were a tremendous benefit not only to this first-time director, but to all the students. What a gem we have in him!

Lou Baker and Bette Ming in the office did a fantastic job with the program and ticket sales. Their guidance was very beneficial, and their help was truly appreciated. Thanks so much, ladies!

Debbie Harding and Julie Dix and their students did a fantastic job in providing snacks for the concessions and in creating the headbands for the ladies to wear. They proved (as if we didn't already know) that they are a genuine asset to not only to this school, but the community. The headbands looked amazing the cookies were delicious!

The custodial staff and cafeteria workers worked so hard and made it so easy for us to hold a musical. Their work was not only noticed, but truly appreciated. Thanks Bill, Gary, Sherry, Bobby, Marlene, and the rest of the crew!

Vickie Hatfield, owner of Finer Things on the square in Bloomfield, loaned us some amazing dresses to use as costumes, as well as the chaise lounge. Thanks so much for all your hard work!

Dayna Firestone in the high school office and Margo Good in the junior high office did an amazing job keeping everything going, as usual. Thanks ladies!

Mike Perigo was a tremendous help with the audition process, as well as providing his expertise in French to the cast members. He did everything we asked of him, and we are so grateful!

Becky Miller did a great job organizing volunteers to work concessions and ticket sales. All the volunteers that worked really made an effort to do the job right, and we so appreciate it!

The parents of the cast and crew members not only allowed their students to be involved, but provided snacks for the kids and all costume accessories that we asked for. What a great benefit to have supportive parents. Thanks so much!

The Greene County Daily World and WTWO News channel 2 did a great job helping us get the word out about our show. I'm certain that they played a part in getting our attendance where it was. Thank you!

I'd also like to thank the administration and school board for allowing the students this amazing opportunity. They had so much fun and worked so hard! Your support is truly appreciated!

Last but certainly not least, the volunteers for our musical: Carol Byers and Lisa Vandeventer. Carol did a great job organizing and costuming all cast, as well as anything else I threw at her, and Lisa did an awesome job with the choreography. These ladies are amazing, and the show literally would not have happened without their help and hard work. Thanks so much!!

I'm sure that I have missed someone -- please know that even the smallest act of kindness or even a vote of confidence was truly appreciated. I can't wait until next year!

Gilmore family appreciates support

To the Editor:

The family of Gary Gilmore would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers during his illness and after his passing. So many friends and family have given their support, taken the time to visit, prepare food and offer to help.

We wish to thank Dr. David Joyce and the IMA Staff, the Bloomington Hospital and staff, they went out of their way to not only make him comfortable but everyone who visited as well. Also, the Bloomington Hospital Hospice was very instrumental in making it possible to get him home. This is a great organization and so much help to our family that words can not convey the amount of thanks and gratitude owed to them.

We would like to thank the First Christian Church for the good food and support, Arlen Pope and Dave Wilde for the nice memorial service and sharing memories, The Quartet for the beautiful song, the Rev. John Matsel for his two songs and Jenkins Funeral Home for taking care of everything and making this difficult time a little easier.

The service at Walnut Grove was perfect and we would like to thank American Legion Post 196 for the nice ceremony, Polly Tilford for playing the bagpipes and a special thanks to Butch Bovenschen for organizing the caravan of classic cars. Gary would have loved the escort as classic cars are one of his favorite subjects to talk about.

Our family can take comfort in the fact that he has touched so many lives as indicated by the memorial and graveside service attendance, and by the flood of cards and letters we have received.
