Robert Dale Geatches, age 75, of Linton, passed away at 2:55 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute. He was born April 29, 1935, in Linton, the son of George and Muriel (Burris) Geatches.
He delivered newspapers for the Terre Haute Tribune Star, was a graduate of Linton-Stockton High School, and was a member of the Linton First Baptist Church. He lived in Linton all his life.
Survivors include: Nieces and nephews, Daniel (Donna) Geatches of Linton, Carlos Jr. "Shep" (Judy) Edmonson of Jasonville, Marilyn Rogers of Linton, Teresa (Raymond) Graham of Newburgh, Rick (Pattie) Edmonson of Indianapolis, Randy Edmonson of Valdosta, Georgia, Rebecca (Larry) Williams of Plainfield, Edwin "Eddie" (Lori) Edmonson of Lyons, Jeff (Barbara) Geatches of Annandale, Virginia, Debbie (Bruce) Keiffer of Florida, Melody Hussey of Texas and Leslie (Nick) of Saudi Arabia; a sister-in-law, Donna Geatches of Newport Richey, Florida; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by: His parents; a brother, William H. Geatches; a sister, Georgianna Edmonson; and an infant brother.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, May 7, at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton, Rev. Doug Cassel officiating. Burial will follow at German Memory Hill Cemetery in Linton.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday and at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
The family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Greene County Clothe-a-Child fund through the funeral home.
