He was born Oct.25, 1919, in Switz City, the son of Samuel C. and Lulie (Flater) Padgett.
He had retried from General Electric in Linton.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Esther (Elkins) Padgett, to whom he was married Dec. 14, 1947; two sons, Jim C. (Vickie) Padgett of Hymera and David K. Padgett of Linton; a sister, Loucine Tannehill of Carmel, two grandchildren, Dawn Griffith and Marie Baker, and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Elizabeth Boyles, Mazel Terhune, and Ellen Hobbs, and four brothers, Johnny, Clarence, Leroy, and Willy Padgett.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 14 at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton with the Rev. Michael Alexander officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. on Thursday, and after 10 a.m. on Friday.
The family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to Southern Care Hospice through the funeral home.
