Virgil C. Frye, 98, of Bloomfield, passed away at 2:45 a.m. Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Garden Villa in Bloomington.
Born Sept. 19, 1911 in Greene County, he was the son of Logan W. and Emma Jane (Shaffer) Frye.
He retired from the Laborers International Union of North America after 50 years of service. He served his country with the United States Army in WW II and was a member of the Cincinnati Christian Church, Solsberry American Legion Post #450 and the Odd Fellows Lodge in Bloomfield.
Surviving relatives include: one son, Robert Leon Frye of Patoka; one stepson, Charles Eugene Hendricks of Camby; eleven grandchildren and several great, grandchildren and great, great, grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Harriet (Martindale) Frye in 1941, his second wife, Marjorie M. (Sullivan) Frye in 2006, Daughters, Evalena Wratten and Mamie Elnora Larson, Brothers, Roy, Delbert and Mack Frye, sister, Jean Capien and his parents.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with the Odd Fellows Lodge and Rev. Henry Mann, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in rural Bloomfield. Military services will be conducted by Solsberry American Legion Post #450 at the cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to Cincinnati Christian Church.
