Della (Taylor) Pickett, born October 26, 1917 in Daviess County, died at the Loogootee Nursing Center in Loogootee on Tuesday May 18, 2010.

She married Melvin "Pete" Pickett on Dec. 21, 1934 in Lawrenceville, IL. He died Jan. 6, 1998.

Della attended the Newberry and Loogootee United Methodist Churches, she was a member of the Newberry United Methodist Women, Order of the Eastern Star and Progressive Club of Newberry. Family and friends were her priority, she enjoyed basketball, crocheting and reading.

She is survived by twin daughters, Faryl Armstrong of Loogootee, and Sharyl (Rex) Humerickhouse of Glen Carbon, IL.; four grandchildren Clay (Stephanie) Armstrong of Jasper, Rebecca (Brian) Piekos of Birdsboro, PA, Rod (Susan) Humerickhouse of Highland Park, IL and Rex (Elizabeth) Humerickhouse Jr. of Farmington, MN; one great granddaughter, Abbey Armstrong of Jasper; 12 great grandsons Austin, Garrett and Hayden Armstrong of Jasper; Taylor, Nathaniel and Ethan Piekos of Birdsboro, PA, Jacob, Adam, Seth and Lucas Humerickhouse of Highland Park, IL, Aaron and Rex Humerickhouse III of Farmington, MN.

Della is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a baby daughter; her parents William and Laura (Hattery) Taylor; three sisters; and one brother.

The family will provide flowers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Newberry United Methodist Women, the Loogootee United Methodist Church or a charity of the donor's choice.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 P.M. on Friday May 21, 2010 and 9 A.M. Saturday until the hour of service at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Service will be at 10:30 A.M., Saturday May 22, 2010 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Jeanne Winter and Pastor Steve Dunkle officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Chapel Cemetery near Lyons.
