He was born June 5, 1928, in Bloomington, the son of William Floyd and Iva (Gray) Hensley.
Rev. Hensley graduated from Liberty Bible College in Lynchburg, VA. He was owner of "The Insurance Exchange" in Linton (Hensley Insurance) for many years and began his ministry at the Worthington Baptist Church, serving there from 1974-1985, ministered at Spencer Baptist Church from 1985-1993, and served as interim pastor at the Lebanon, Bicknell, Worthington,and Indian Prairie Baptist churches. He was very active in establishing the Linton Salvation Army facility and was a member of the Linton First Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Ann (Breck) Hensley, to whom he was married Nov. 2, 1950; two sons, David (Claudia) Hensley of Linton and Breck (Nancy) Hensley of Wheaton, Ill.; and six grandchildren, Matthew Hensley, Jonathan Hensley, Sarah Hensley, Kate (Dan) Hahn, Christopher Hensley and Caroline Hensley.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, June 18, at the Linton First Baptist Church with Rev. David Tyra officiating.
Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m.Thursday at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton and after 10 a.m. Friday at the church.
The family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Linton First Baptist Church through the funeral home.
