She was born in Solsberry on August 2, 1930, the daughter of Floyd and Ruby Fern (Wells) Vandeventer.
During her life she worked at GC Murphy, Keller Chair Factory, and in the cafeteria at Linton-Stockton Elementary School, and she was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Sullivan.
Survivors include: two sons, Johnnie (Barbara) Kristler of Sullivan and Dennis (Nancy) Kristler of Linton; two daughters, Vonda K. Smith of Linton and Mary Jayne (Jed) McKinney of West Terre Haute; two sisters, Erma Lee (Jim) Weaver of Elletsville and Carolyn (Jim) Carmichael of Bloomfield; one brother, Wilber W. Vandeventer of Bloomington; a brother-in-law, Robert Kristler of Washinton, IL; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and several step great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Lawrence M. Kristler on August 7, 2005; a son, Lawrence Eugene Kristler; a son-in-law, Jack Smith; a daughter-in-law, Penny Kristler; a great-granddaughter, Chloe Farmer; three brothers, Gerald, Donald, and Jerry Vandeventer; two sisters, Betty Meek and Kay Gilbert; and her parents.
Funeral service will be at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 30 with Dale Wise officiating and David Cox assisting.
Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
