Stephen D. Gorby, 55, Jasonville, passed away at 9:37 p.m. Friday, July 9, 2010 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton. He was born on January 14, 1955 in Terre Haute, Ind., the son of Walter E. Gorby, Jr. and Wanda L. (Bean) Gorby.
Stephen had worked for the Jasonville Cord Factory in maintenance. He loved the outdoors, had hunting dogs, went fishing and enjoyed working with his hands and building things. He had a passion for Western's and especially loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Jessica Ann (Dryer) Gorby of Jasonville, whom he married on June 28, 1997; his mother, Wanda L. Gorby of Hymera; daughter Latrisha L. Gorby of Jasonville; son Christopher C. Gorby of Vincennes; grandsons Ethan R. Gorby and Nickolas Grant Goldsberry; sisters Vickie Kirton and Jeannie Brown, both of Jasonville, and Nila Bose of Hymera; brother Mike Gorby of Jasonville; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter E. Gorby, Jr.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Cox Funeral Home, 218 South Meridian St, Jasonville.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 15, at the funeral home.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home, on Friday, July 16 with Father Harold Rightor II officiating. The place of interment will be K of P Cemetery in Hymera, Ind.
