Wilbur O. Cox, 86, of Springville, passed away at 3:55 P.M. Friday at the Garden Ville in Bedford.
Wilbur was born February 1, 1924 in Solsberry, the son of Lennie and Lillie (Linthicum) Cox.
He retired from HMI U.S. Navy for after 13 years, he was a farmer and worked for Hoosier Upland (Meals on wheels). He was a member of the Solsberry American Legion Post # 450 and the 1st Marine Division Association. He was an Navy and Marine Corp veteran of WWII and the Korean War.
Surviving relatives include his wife Betty (Miller) Cox of Springville; one daughter, Mildred Michael of Bloomfield; two grandsons Aaron Michael and Nathan Michael, one granddaughter Elisabeth Michael all of Bloomfield. Two sisters Dorothy Clawson of Florida and Mae Padgett of Spencer.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Esther (Helms) Cox in 1968, one brother Ray Cox, one sister Lois Livingston and his parents.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. on Tuesday July 27, 2010 and 10 A.M. Wednesday until the hour of service at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Indiana.
Services will be at 11 A.M. Wednesday July 28, 2010 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Dean VanSlykes and Tony Michael officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary / Hunter Cemetery in Bloomfield.
