She was born in Havelock, Neb., on July 25, 1924, the daughter of Robert and Cleo Mae (Brown) Walsh.
Irene was a homemaker and a member of the Linton First Baptist Church.
Surviving family includes two sons and three daughters: Bobby (Marquetta) Matthews of Harrison, AR, Emma (Jim) Petty of Huntingburg, IN, Darlene (Ed) Strong of Western Grove, AR, Elton (Vonnie) Matthews of Harrison, AR, and Becky (Kriss) Miller of Linton. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Roberta (Loren) Brandsma of Kalona, IA
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Hollis, one great-grandson, Michael, and two sisters.
The family has asked the memorial contributions be made to the Greene County Humane Society, with envelopes available at the funeral home and church.
The funeral service will be held at the Flippin Christian Church in Flippin, AR, at 11a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 19 with Bro. Jim Petty officiating. Interment will follow in the Flippin Cemetery in Flippin, AR.
Local calling hours for friends and family will be at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton on Tuesday, August 17, from 3-6 p.m. Calling hours will resume on Thursday, August 19, from 9-11 a.m. at the Flippin Christian Church in Flippin, AR, prior to the funeral service.
