Library seeks volunteers to help with grounds work

The Linton Public Library is in need of some outdoor upkeep and needs volunteers for its upcoming Grounds Work Days.

Shelley Williams, library director, shared details on the upcoming grounds beautification days which are slated for the first and third Fridays in September and October from 9-11 a.m.

"I'm trying to make it look nice ... this summer has been especially hard on the plants. They need a lot of tender loving care," Williams said.

You don't have to have a green thumb to volunteer, she noted. You can help with planting, weeding, watering and labeling of plants and flowers.

"We need help. I need people to help pick up rocks and help plant some things that I already have. The stone paths need redone and the shrubs need trimmed back," Williams explained.

This is the first time for Grounds Work Days at the library.

"I've tried to do the landscaping on my own. I also hired someone to do it, but that person is not doing it anymore," she said.

Any help from the community would be greatly appreciated.

"I have a list of what needs to be done and I have gardening tools," Williams said, adding volunteers should dress for outdoor work and bring work gloves.

To help out sign-up at the library or call 847-7802.

"I'd appreciate it if they'd sign up ... but they can show up. I'll be dressed accordingly and ready to work," she added.
