Look for the 2010 Friends of the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene Library annual book sale to hit the Bloomfield Library today through Sunday.
Don Heintzman, co-chair of the Friends of the Library, shared details on the fundraiser and explained its importance.
"This is our biggest fundraising event outside of memberships," he said. "The revenues generated from the event goes to pay for children's programs, adult programs, support for the genealogy society, and in various other capacities associated with the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene Library."
The Friends of the Library has sponsored guest speakers and authors, supported activities such as the Mother and Daughter Tea, and contributed prizes for the many children's activities that are conducted throughout the year. All are open to the public, he added.
"For over a decade The Friends of the Library have conducted this annual sale. The support of the community and surrounding area is crucial to the Friends' mission," Heintzman explained. "Our goal is to promote awareness and use of the library. We do this by providing volunteer services, building on the community's financial support, and sponsoring cultural programs for the community."
A members-only sale will run from 2 - 8 p.m. today and memberships will also be available for purchase at the door. Cost is $5 for an individual membership and $7.50 for a family membership.
"This is a great opportunity for members to preview the sale for bargains," he added.
The sale will continue Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1:30 to 3 p.m. and is open to the public.
