John David (JD) Smith, 61, of Odon, passed away at 6:50 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010 at his residence.
Born Sept. 21, 1948 in Daviess County, he was the son of John Warren and Frances Jewell (Greathouse) Smith.
He was a Mechanical Engineering Technician for NSWC Crane and served his country in Vietnam with the United States Navy. He was a life member of the Crane VFW and a member of the Loogootee American Legion.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Linda Smith whom he married Dec. 9, 1995; his mother, Frances Jewell Dunham of Bloomington; children, John Jeremy Smith (Jenny) of Moline, Ill., Joshua David Smith (Ashley) of Elnora and Jessica Miller (Travis) of Odon; his grandchildren, Payton, Austyn, Treyton, Ava and Cooper; one sister, Nancy Tarter (Gary) of Bloomington; mother-in-law, Mae Stuffle of Loogootee; sisters-in-law, Nancy Smith of New Mexico and Helen Smith of Odon; and his brother-in-law, Bill Boyd (Barbara) of Loogootee.
He was preceded in death by his father, son, Gart Salmon, one brother, Randy Smith and one sister, Mary Kay Meadows.
Memorial services will be conducted 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 17, 2010 at Raglesville United Methodist Church.
Graveside service will follow at Raglesville cemetery where the Crane VFW will provide military honors.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Friday at Raglesville united Methodist Church. Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
The family asks that memorial donations be made to the Donor's favorite charity.
