Wendell Lee Jackson, 87, of Owensburg, passed away Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010 at the Bell Trace Health and Living Center. He was born on September 7, 1923 in Greene County and was the son of Ralph and Pallie (George) Jackson.
He was married to Wilma Jean Hudson for 52 years.
He was a 1941 graduate of Owensburg High School and a World War II veteran. He retired in 1981 from NSWC Crane. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, American Legion and the AFGE Crane Union. He served with the Owensburg Fire Department for 40 years. He received the good neighbor award from Owensburg, Indiana.
Survivors include four children, Linda (Larry) Bough, Brenda Arvin, Steve (Kathy) Jackson and Mick (Mary Jo) Jackson. Seven grandchildren and six great, grandchildren, one sister, Lola Page and one brother, Lester Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Jean (Hudson) Jackson on Feb. 4, 1999, two brothers, Wayne and Ervin Jackson and his parents.
Graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010 at Owensburg cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
