Richard W. (Rick) Murphy, 60, of Bloomfield, passed away at 2:35 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010 at Bloomington Hospital.

Born April 23, 1950 in Portsmouth, Virginia He was the son of George E. Sr. and Mary Lee (West) Murphy.

He was a quality assurance specialist for CAAA Crane and served his country in Vietnam with the United States Marine Corps. He was a life member of the Crane VFW and the Bloomfield American Legion.

Surviving relatives include: his wife, Esther (Stone) Murphy whom he married July 25, 1986; two daughters, Amanda Workman (Rob) of Bloomington and Katie Holderfield (Jim) of Cloverdale; one brother, George E. Murphy Jr. (Jeannie) of Switz City; sister, Barbara Lee Allen (Joseph) of Gates, North Carolina; his grandchildren, Darian, Lance and Lilah; one brother-in-law, David Stone (Joy) of Bloomfield; one sister-in-law, Linda Trout of Scotland; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his Parents and an infant sister.

Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, September 24, 2010 at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Rev. Jeff Williams officiating. Interment will be in Scotland Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 12 Noon until the hour of services Friday at the funeral home.

The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the Crane VFW Post 9297.
