Zada L. Britton, 87, of Linton, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010 at the Linton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on Sept. 7, 1923, in Linton, Indiana to Herbert and Ethel (Bovenschen) Bobbitt.

On July 20, 1946 she married Clarence E. Britton.

Zada worked at the General Electric Linton Plant for 29 years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Saron United Church of Christ.

Survivors include her two sons, David (Jeanie) Britton of Mt. Carmel, IL and Herbert (Marcia) Britton of Petersburg, IN; three daughters, Gretta West of Borden, IN, Marla (Jim) Wadsworth and Sara (Dennis) Bellamy, both of Linton; Grandchildren, Gordon and Greg West, Thad Britton, John Graham, Zachary Britton, Jenny Ridao, Andy Bellamy and Brittony Landis. Also surviving is one brother, Willis (Ethyl) Bobbitt of Sullivan and one sister-in-law, Barbara Kehoe of Indianapolis.

Zada was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clarence Britton, one daughter, Alice Keller, one great-grandson, Carter Landis and one sister, Mary E. Gardner.

The family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Saron United Church of Christ. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Visitation hours will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010 at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton. Visitation will continue on Friday, Sept. 24, from 9 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Funeral services will begin on Friday, Sept. 24, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel with Rev. Mike Roth officiating. Interment will follow at Switz City Cemetery.
