Katie worked for 20 years at Craven's Cleaners, then 25 years at Mercury Cleaners, both in Linton. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, where she had served on the Parrish Council, in Linton.
She is survived by her son, John (Deann) James; a daughter, Mary (Jim) Baker; step-sons, Joe James and Morgan (Joan) James, all of Linton; a brother, Joseph Currans of Indianapolis; three sisters, Rosie Versman of Linton, Patricia Currans of Kentucky and Agnes Brinson of Martinsville; six grandchildren, Cassie (Jason) Rush, Cody Sullivan, Debbie (Jerry) Skomp, Michelle Cooksey, J.D. and Adam James, and Erikka and Andrea Schubla; ten great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John L. James on Nov. 24, 2000; a son, Steven "Gang" James; two brothers, Calvin and Bill Currans; and two sisters, Mary Frances Currans and Janie Griffith.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 24, 2010, Father Michael Madden officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Visitation will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton on Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m., and Friday from 9 to 9:45 a.m.
