Darrell Lee Dobbins, 66, of Dugger, passed away at 5:40 a.m. Monday October 4, 2010 at Terre Haute Regioal Hospital.
He was born in Sullivan County on October 12, 1943, the son of Vivian Oral Dobbins and Lois Jewell Lacy Dobbins.
He was a U.S. Marine, a member of the Bloomfield American Legion Post #196, and retired from Naval Service Warfare Center at Crane. Darrell enjoyed camping with his friends at Sullivan County Park and Lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents, also, three brothers, Johnny, Verdon, and Elmer Dobbins, one sister, Leah Sluder, and one grandson, Trenton Brice Dobbins.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years Dorothy Mehay Dobbins whom he married June 27, 1964; four sons, Joe Dobbins (Debbie) of Birds, Ill., Jeff Dobbins (Danna) of Jasonville, Jon Dobbins of Dugger, and Jason Dobbins (Danielle Gentry) of Dugger; two sisters Iris Thomas of Clayton, IN., Donna Lawson of Iowa; five grandchildren, Stephanie, Koty, Tyler, Tom, and Ben.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Newkirk's Funeral Home in Dugger with Pastor Dan Dyer officiating. Interment will be in the Dugger Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Bloomfield American Legion Post # 196.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday.
