James Kenneth Letsinger, 90, died October 17, 2010 at his residence in Mineral.
Born October 1, 1920 in Mineral, he was the son of Leo C. and Mary (Faucett) Letsinger.
He was a graduate of Bloomfield High School in 1939 and Purdue University in 1949.
He served his country in the United States Army from 1943 -- 1945 in the 60th Medical Battalion, 500th Medical Collecting Company which participated in the Normandy invasion.
He married Elizabeth Stone April 22, 1950 in Bloomfield.
He was a teacher in Brook, Owensburg, Odon, Linton, and L & M School systems.
He was a lifetime farmer in Mineral.
He was a member of the Mineral United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday school for 50 years, he was a charter member and past president of the Greene County Historical Society where he served as the Greene County Historian for many years, was active in the Greene County Playhouse and organized several musicals at Shawnee Theatre, and he was a member of the Farmers and Homemakers Club.
He was preceded by his parents, sister and brother-in-law, Gretchen and Russell Huffman, and nephew, Julian Huffman.
Surviving relatives include: sisters, Ellen Emminger (Norman) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Hilda Nickles (Larry) of Greenwood, South Carolina and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Mineral United Methodist Church, with Rev. Lloyd Swango and Rev. Steve Eads officiating. Interment will be in Grandview cemetery in Bloomfield.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday at the Church.
Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
