Support was great for 'Big Mac Attack'

To the Editor:

We would like to thank all the people who recently participated in, sponsored, volunteered and basically made the 15th Annual "Big Mac Attack" Tournament possible.

Many turn out to

help area children

To the Editor:

The Worthington Police Department would like to just take a few moments to say a special thank you to the citizens of Worthington and those individuals from around Greene County who came out Saturday afternoon and evening in support of the Winter Coat drive sponsored by the Worthington Police Department and the Worthington Jefferson Fire Department.

There was plenty of good food and a lot of conversation and the silent auction was a success. There was plenty of help on hand and a special thanks must go to Mr. Hubble for his excellent job of preparing the hog.

Although there were several community functions taking place at the same time people made their rounds and made possible our goal of being able to provide winter coats, mittens and caps to many youngsters in and around the community.

We all realize that many folks have encountered hard times, but it always seems that no matter what, the people in Greene County always step up to the plate to help others. It makes a person proud to say "I am from a community that still cares about their neighbors."

Even the sheriff and his "friends" came out to provide entertainment and we all enjoyed their talent, good job guys and gals. Again a special thank you to the community.

Soccer league provides a great service

To the Editor:

I would like to send out a thank you to the Greene County Soccer Association.

Our 3-year-old daughter has enjoyed this fall so much! My husband and I have not had a better time doing anything else. There's been laughs, tears, boo-boos, and cheers.

The season is over, and we are already looking forward to the spring season! With all the various age groups out there, I'm absolutely impressed with the kids' behavior, manners, facilities, fields, and coaches!

Coach Brent Stone has been wonderful with his rambunctious group of 3 and 4 year old kids.

With this amazing group here in Greene County, I just have say, "What is wrong with the Greene County schools?" Soccer is a world sport with world championships! I grew up in Daviess County, where soccer is as big as basketball and football. I just hope that by the time my little girl is in high school, Greene County will have schools with a soccer program!

Maybe we could even see some coverage in the local paper?
