He was born Aug. 1, 1944 in Linton to the late Wesley S. and Dorothy Wright Padgett.
Mr. Padgett was a member of the First Church of God in Madisonville and Owensboro. He worked for Ziglar No. 9 Coal Mine, served as a Security Guard at GE and York and retired from custodial staff at Grapevine Baptist Church. He was a faithful husband and father, he served God and loved being around his family.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Deloris "Dee" Ratzlaff Padgett of Madisonville; one daughter, Ruthann Padgett of Hanson; one son, Rusty (Sherri) Padgett of Madisonville; two sisters, Elaine Baggett of Linden, N.C. and Brenda (Tom) Gibson of Fayetteville, N.C.; one brother, Darrell (Greta) Padgett of Madisonville and three grandchildren, Melanie (Seth) Tapp, Braydon Padgett and Mikaila Padgett all of Madisonville.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with the Rev. Judson Sealey, the Rev Jeff Berry and the Rev. Robert White officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday and after 10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Charles Starr, Jim Hendrix, Bruce Spencer, Sam Riley, Dave Wilson, and Wayne Risinger.
Memorial contributions may be made to Child of Promise in Anderson, Ind., or Common Garments in Nebo, Ky. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
