He was born in Linton, Indiana Aug. 23,1934 the son of Floyd Heaton, Sr. And Mildred (Cunningham) Heaton.
Floyd was a member of the Dugger Church of Christ, a Korean War Navy Veteran. Transferred to Crane Naval Depot, retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Sullivan, retired with 33 years of Civil Service, and served as a Union Stewart, He owned and operated Floyd Heaton Co., Real Estate, Insurance, Appraiser, and owner and teacher for an appraisal school for 20 years in Linton, In.
He was a member of the Dugger American Legion Post 224, the Dugger Masonic Lodge Post 721, and a dealer for All-American Homes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one infant sister, Paulette Heaton.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Betty McCammon Heaton, one daughter, Debra Heaton of Dugger, one son, David Heaton (Terri) of Dugger, four brothers, Jeff Heaton (Sheron) of Goodyear, Az., Mike Heaton (Ann) of Sparta, Ill., Gary Heaton (Kathy) of Jolliet,Ill.,
Kevin Heaton of Harrisburg, Ill., five sisters, Sharon Bryant (Leon) of Junction, Ill., Shirley Weaver (Jerry) of Beech Grove, In., Jackie King (Richard) of Sarasota, Fl., Chris Parson (Leroy) of Harrisburg, Ill., Cathy Lynch of Omaha, Ill., two half sisters, Anita Poe of Linton, and Phyllis Griffith of Jasonville, two grandchildren, Jolynn, and Brock, four great grandchildren, Katie, Cale, Colt, and Rance.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday Nov. 4, 2010 at Newkirk's Funeral Home in Dugger with Rev. Jerry Carmichael officiating.
Interment in the Dugger Cemetery with Military Graveside Services by the Dugger and Linton American Legions. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Masonic services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
