He was born Sept. 12, 1941 in Greene Co. to Clarence M. and Bonnie (Barton) Dyer.
Harold was a coal miner for 27 years, retiring from Black Beauty Mine at Farmersburg and was also a diesel mechanic.
He is survived by his wife, Galene (Basye) Dyer, Linton; eight children, Gene (Jennifer) Dyer, Linton, Tina (Rodney LaFever) Baker, Worthington, Rita (Steve) LaFree, South Bend, Lori Dyer, Farmersburg, Teresa (Don) Schloesser, Jasper, Patricia (Scott) Tally, Worthington, Kenneth (Nancy) Dyer, Linton; Glenn Dyer, Summerdale, AL; three step-children, Jackie Gilliland, Donnie (Annie) Shake, Bill (Chasity) Shake; 11 grandchildren, Dwain, Justin, Tasha, Christopher, Ashley, Joseph, Ryan, Alicia, Jacob, Ashton and Aiden; 17 step-grand children; 18 step-great grandchildren; three brothers, Darrell (Carmen) Dyer, Loogootee, Clarence Junior (Linda) Dyer, Bicknell; David (Elizabeth) Dyer, Worthington; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Loretta (Beaver) Dyer; one sister, Carolyn Sue Dyer; two brothers, Ronnie and Lonnie Dyer.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington with Rev. David Wilde officiating.
Friends may call at Welch & Cornett 4-8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday until time of service.
Burial will be in Worthington Cemetery.
