Beta Sigma Phi

says thanks for help

To the Editor:

Xi Epsilon Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi recently held our annual Holiday Bazaar at Linton-Stockton High School. This is our major fundraising event and the money we raise is used here in our community.

We are able to fund one or two scholarships each spring, help struggling families to make ends meet, and give collectively along with other civic organizations to help meet the needs of our community.

We wish to say a big thank you to anyone who attended our event or who helped in any way. A special thanks goes to Markle Signs/Shad Cox for helping with our signs; to South Side Express, Correll's LP Gas, Roger Hamilton, and Shield's Hardware & Supply for letting us place advertising signs at your business; Anderson-Poindexter (Jim, Roger, Jeff, Bob, and Bryant) who worked hard building, hanging, and keeping the signs up; and to the Park Inn Motel, Angell's Food Center, and Linton Family Pharmacy for placing our bazaar info on your signs.

Folks, we could not have accomplished this without your support.

Also, thank you to family and friends who pitched in when we were short-handed. Gamma Lamda, our sister chapter, your presence was appreciated and enjoyed by all. Tom, Bart, and Jason you made clean up quick and easy, and Beth Landis, thanks for your supervision.

Last, but not least, thank you to Linton and surrounding community residents for supporting our cause. Without you, the Holiday Bazaar would not exist.

Hopefully, I have not missed anyone who helped. If I missed you, I am truly sorry. Just keep in mind that you helped to make our bazaar a success; and rest assured our success will be passed along as a blessing to others in our community.

Chamberlains thankful for support

To the Editor:

We would like to offer our sincere appreciation to our many special friends, family, community members, and others who cared for our daughter, Lori Lynn Chamberlain.

Thank you to Jim Meng and all the staff at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel, to the Rev. Allen Buzzard and Pastor Nick Moore for their outlook and sentiments on her life, and to the meal prepared for us at the Church of Christ in Dugger, following burial.

Thank you for the food, flowers, calls, cards, visits, prayers, and concern so lovingly given. Your prayers continue to be a rock for us to lean on.

May her brief stay on earth serve to remind all to continue the journey, for life everlasting with Jesus.

Lyons fundraiser was a real treat

To the Editor:

Saturday evening I attended a dinner at Lyons Community Building to pay "tribute to veterans flagraiser" sponsored by Boy Scout Troop 407.

I attend dinners by many different clubs but this was the best by far. I not only enjoyed the delicious food but also the display of World War I, Korea, and different military items. It was a very "red, white and blue" evening and what better way to honor our veterans.

Thank you ladies and troop 407 for a wonderful cause.

Hope you get enough flags to line the streets of Lyons.

God Bless America and our veterans.
