Mary E. Edwards, 81 of Linton, passed away Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.
She was born in Sullivan on March 29, 1929, the daughter of Paul C. and Blanche E. (Bennett) Simmons.
She was a homemaker and did bookkeeping for her late husband's business, Edwards Masonry. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Linton.
She is survived by two sons, Paul Edwards of Bloomfield and David (Marjorie) Edwards of Jasonville; two daughters, Marilou (Randy) Lawhead and Linda Sue (Rick) Crynes, both of Linton; a brother, Willie (Mary Alice) Simmons of Sullivan; nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Wilma Simmons of Sullivan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Vernal "Rusty" D. Edwards on March 18, 2002; and a brother, John Simmons.
Funeral service will be at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010 with James Stone and Dr. Keith Stanglin officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
