The Linton Police Department's activity log for Monday included one follow-up investigation, one lifting assistance, two assists to the utility department after hours, one report of vandalism, one death investigation, one accident with property damage, two medical/illness, two alarms, one prowler, one assist to another agency, one possibly intoxicated driver, one domestic dispute and five traffic stops.
* Jan. 1 -- An accident involving two vehicles occurred at 2:24 a.m. at the intersection of SW 2nd St. and SW A St. Opie Gage, 28, Linton, was southbound on SW 2nd St. in a gray 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Donald Pope, 71, Linton was westbound on SW A St. in a red 1998 Dodge Ram 1500. According to the police report, Pope said he stopped at the stop sign but was distracted by a car sitting on SW 2nd St. with bright lights on, proceeded through the intersection and did not see the other vehicle. Gage, who had the right of way and no stop sign, said he also saw the parked vehicle, was struck in both doors on the driver's side. Gage's vehicle then struck a light pole. Gage complained of pain to a leg but refused medical treatment from rescue personnel. No other injuries were reported. LPD Officer Debbie McDonald was the investigating officer.
* Jan. 1 -- A resident on SE 6th St. reported an incident of criminal mischief occurred at approximately 2 a.m. when a car drove by their residence. A rock was thrown and broke the living room window. LPD Officer Debbie McDonald was the investigating officer.
* Jan. 4 -- A resident on W. Vincennes St. reported an incident of criminal mischief occurred at approximately 1 a.m. when an unknown person threw a Budweiser beer bottle at the front door of the residence and broke the glass. LPD Cpl. Chad Crynes was the investigating officer. Officer Thomas Jerrels also responded to the area.
