She was born November 13, 1912 in Bloomfield on Gilliland Street the daughter of Othnel and Minnie (Rush) Gilliland.
Beatrice, called Bea by her friends and close family was a homemaker and a mother. She had been a member of the Solsberry Christian Church since the age of eight and was the first baptized member of the church.
She graduated from Solsberry High School with the class of 1931. While she was in high school she enjoyed playing the piano for some of the different musicals they presented and also played for the church functions.
At the age of 18, she married Ralph Ray Gardner on Aug. 5, 1931 in Stanford. They where married over 50 years, until his death on April 14, 1982.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her father on Jan. 23, 1973 and her mother on Dec. 21, 1972.
She is survived by two sons and one daughter; Philip L. Gardner and wife Sandy of Bloomington, Michael J. Gardner and his wife, Peggy of Solsberry and Linda L. Rogers of Bloomington. She has seven grandchildren; Karen Gardner, Brandon Gardner, Stephen Gardner, Jason Gardner, Heather Lauer, Sherry Ringer and Tammy Brinegar; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. on Saturday Jan. 8, until the hour of service at the Solsberry Christian Church.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at the Solsberry Christian Church with Brother Jim Root officiating. Burial will follow at Solsberry Cemetery. Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield are handling arrangements.
