She was born in Dugger, Feb. 13, 1931, the daughter of Homer McKinley Gilham and Lela Lucy Brewer Gilham.
Barbara retired from American Latex in Sullivan, was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star #188 in Sullivan, lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post # 2459 in Sullivan, and the American Legion Post #139 Auxiliary in Sullivan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester A. Crooks in 2008; and a son, Lester D. Crooks; three brothers, Amos Gilham, Henry Gilham, and Rene Gilham; and one sister, Chloe Webster.
Survivors include two sons, William H. Crooks of Sullivan; David Crooks (Shelley) of Washington; one daughter, Pamela Nation (Jay Loudermilk) of Graysville; one brother, Everett Gilham (Susan) of Dugger; two sisters, Betty Blann of Sullivan, and Anna Mae Johnson Schenck of Muncie; four grandchildren, Tabatha Hernandez, Norman Lee Nation, Mackenzie Crooks, Jared Crooks, and Jacob Richards, two great grandchildren Zendalin and Winson Hernanadez.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, at Newkirk's Funeral Home in Dugger with Pastor Eddie Hammond and Pastor Robert Gray officiating.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, and Wednesday from 10:00AM until service time. Eastern Star will be conducting a memorial service at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will be in the Dugger Cemetery.
