William B. McCoin, 89, of Solsberry, passed away at 8:15 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011 at his residence.
Born Oct. 30, 1921 in Portland, Tennessee, he was the son of Will and Leanor (Trammel) McCoin.
He was self employed in construction and also as a farmer. He served his country in World War II in the United States Army where he received a Bronze Star.
Surviving relatives include: his children, Lucille Algood (Bobby) of Solsberry, Linda McCoin of Bloomington, and Brenda Pike (Ronnie) of Solsberry; grandchildren, Dawn Henderson, Sarah Thompson, Lori Neal, and Chris Pike; great-grandchildren, Isaac Wall, Emilie Goodman, Delaney Henderson, Max Henderson, Hayden Neal, and Bella Neal; three brothers, Alton McCoin and Roy McCoin both of Tennessee and Jerry McCoin of Florida; six sisters, Eathel Rippy of Solsberry, Peggy McGlothlin of Tennessee, Birdie Stinson of Kentucky, and Lizzie Finn, Ruby Gregory, and Wilma Bradley all of Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Emily Olene (Brown) McCoin on September 30, 2003, four brothers, one sister, and his parents.
Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Rev. Raymond New officiating.
Interment will follow at Newark Cemetery in rural Solsberry.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.
The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
