Dana "Red" Ashcraft, 83, of Miamisburg, Ohio passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011 at his residence.
He was born on Nov. 10, 1927 in Greene County, Indi. to the late Doran and Mary (Pribble) Ashcraft. In addition to his parents, Dana is preceded in death by a brother Dorsey Ashcraft and a sister Amy Ethel Ashcraft.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Myrtle M. (Rans) Ashcraft; daughters, Joyce (Jan Russell) Ashcraft of Miamisburg and Bonnie (Terry) Singeltary of Bacliff, TX; a brother, James Ashcraft of Linton; grandchildren, Todd (Keri) Singeltary, Brad (Cinnimin) Singeltary, and Terry (Jaime) Singeltary Jr.; eight great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Red worked many years as an asbestos insulator, where he was a member of the Heat and Frost Insulators Local #50 and proceeded to retire in 1985. He was also a member of the Miamisburg Moose Lodge 1645 and the Wednesday Night Twilighters Bowling League. Red was an avid fisherman, practical joker and always had a story to tell.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, January 13 at Gebhart-Schmidt-Paramore Funeral Home in Miamisburg, Ohio, officiated by Chaplain Randy Reed.
Burial was in Highland Memorial Cemetery.
