Note of thanks to

a caring community

To the Editor:

What a great time we had at this year's holiday dinner co-hosted by the Linton Rotary Club and Saron Church.

This year we served over 500 meals, complete with turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, corn, home-made noodles, rolls and desserts.

Santa made an appearance for the kids and Saron's Music Minister, Dusty Miller, did a wonderful job singing and playing the guitar for everyone's enjoyment.

Again this year the meal coincided with the Greene County Clothe-A-Child's toy distribution for the western side of our county.

We would like to thank the members of Saron Church and Linton Rotary for volunteering their time and food for the event with a special thanks to: Our head chef Ray Spencer, Rodney and Carol Walker, Mike Smith, Annette Ladson, Bob Waters and the St. Ann's Alter Society for doing a great job of cooking. This year we also had quite a few volunteers from the community come and lend a hand which we greatly appreciate.

Also thanks to Angell's Food Center, Stoll's County Inn, The Old Bank Restaurant, Dale Green, Debbie Kean and the Reverend's Mike and Erica Roth for all their assistance.

It is truly a heart-warming event each year; we just wish we could do it more often. We realize that getting a big meal once or twice a year does not keep away a child's hunger pangs, but it is our hope that they understand that there are a lot of people in our community that care about them and what happens to them.

If you would like to experience some of the true meaning of Christmas, we invite you to join us next year, because the best gift you can give is that of your time.

Yours in Christ.

Kevin Kramer
