Hazel Lemmons Smith Olive, 87, of Indianapolis and Brown County, passed away Jan. 23, 2011.
Hazel was born on Aug. 20,1923 to George W. and Nana Griffith Lemmons in Greene County.
She was a graduate of Linton High School and attended many classes at Butler University in the 1980s and '90s. She worked at Lukas-Harold Corp (Naval Air Warfare Center) making the Norden Bombsight for the Navy. At the end of World War II, she went to work for Eli Lilly until 1968. Hazel was a member of St. David's Episcopal Church, in Bean Blossom and affiliated with St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Indianapolis. She is also a chartered member of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Indianapolis. Hazel was a State Board Member of CCHD (Committee to Combat Huntington's Disease).
Hazel is proceeded in death by her husband, Charles Marion David Smith; her parents; and five sisters.
She is survived by her husband, George S. Olive Jr.; son M. David Smith; two sisters, two step-sons David and Jim Olive and one step-daughter, Ann Moore, three grandchildren and 10 step-grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 27, from 5 to 8 p.m. in Leppert Mortuary 740 E 86th St. in Indianapolis.
Funeral service will begin at noon Friday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church at 6050 N. Meridian St. in Indianapolis with interment at Washington Park, East.
