Ruth was born in Scotland on Aug. 17, 1919. She was the daughter of Walter J. and Mary Belle (Bough) Boling. Ruth graduated from Scotland High School in 1937.
Ruth married Charles W. Martindale on Dec. 4, 1940. They had two sons, Larry and Eddy Don Martindale.
Ruth was preceded in death by Charles Martindale on July 7, 1969, both sons Larry and Eddy Don Martindale on Oct. 21, 1975 and second husband, Ray Horning on July 16, 1992. She is also preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Robert "Bob" Boling and Ralph Boling, and stepson, Tom Horning
Ruth was a homemaker and devoted Christian.
Surviving family include a granddaughter, Julie Martindale (Rick) Baker and great, granddaughter Casey Baker of Lyons, Step-daughters, Rose Ann (Bob) Allison of Trafalgar and Peggy (Larry) Wetherald of Danville, four step-grandchildren, three step-great, grandchildren, one brother, Ronald (Helen) Boling of Largo, Fla., one sister, Betty Whittington of Sandborn, sister-in-law, Bronna Beth Boling of Yoder and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 4 at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Lyons with the Rev. Don Reed officiating.
Interment will be in Scotland cemetery.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the hour of service Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Butch Mullis Scholarship Fund in Ruth's memory.
