He was born in Sullivan County on March 16, 1933 the son of Foster R. Brewer and Viles Sexton Brewer.
Bernard was a Korean War Army Veteran, and a retired teacher for Indianapolis Public Schools, and a member of the Dugger American Legion Post # 224.
He was preceded in death by his parents, also one sister Yvone Tulawisky.
Survivors include five brothers, Wilson Brewer (Betty) of Linton, Derward Brewer (Lisa) of Carlisle, Rex Brewer (Waynetta) of Sandborn, Howard Brewer (Theresa) of Dugger, and Nelson Brewer (Pam) of Sullivan, several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service were conducted Thursday, Feb. 3 at Mt. Moriah Cemetery with Bro. J.B. Smith officiating. Military graveside rites were presented by the Dugger American Legion.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements were entrusted to Newkirk's Funeral Home in Dugger.
