Iris Jean (O'Hern) Tuttle, 85 of Linton, died at 11:06 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011, at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.
She was born in Linton on May 28, 1925, the daughter of Patrick and Ethel (Robertson) O'Hern. She was a 1943 graduate of Linton-Stockton High School. She worked during WWII at the Price Control & Rationing Office in Linton. She was a bookkeeper for her husband's business, Tuttle Heating and Cooling. She attended Indiana State University and was a substitute teacher for many years in the Northeast School Corporation, Switz City, and Shakamak schools. She was a homemaker and a 75-year member of the Linton First Baptist Church. She was a very loving, sweet mother, passionately dedicated to her daughters and grandchildren. Highly intelligent with a sense of humor and twinkling Irish eyes, she could tell a captivating story to eager listeners.
Iris is survived by two daughters, Lisa Tuttle (Derward) Brewer of Linton and Sharon (Jack) Hobbs of New Jersey; a granddaughter, Shasi Tuttle Hobbs of New Jersey, and a sister, Patricia Templeton of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Funeral service will be at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, with Rev. David Tyra officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. and Thursday from noon until the time of service.
