He was a 1950 Linton High School graduate and graduated in 1954 from Indiana University with a Business Degree.
He served as a 1st Lt. in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956 in Mannheim, Germany.
He spent his entire forty-five year career as a General Motors dealer with Kramer Motors in downtown Linton. Jerry was a member of the Saron United Church of Christ, over 50-year member of BPO Elks 866, and a member of the Linton-Stockton Chamber of Commerce for many years, all of Linton.
He was a member of the Acacia Fraternity at Indiana University.
Jerry dearly loved his family. He enjoyed fishing and automobiles. He had a tremendous interest in plant life, working in his greenhouse as a horticulturist and arborist.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Jean (Mutchler) Kramer, to whom he was married June 2, 1957, a daughter, Jo Ellen Kramer of Linton, a son, Kevin (Susan) Kramer of Linton, three grandchildren, Kolin, Valerie, and Kylie Kramer, a brother-in-law, Jerry V. (Lana) Mutchler of Houston, TX, two nephews and one niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudy & Edna Kramer, and later, Ellen (Mitchell) Kramer.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 P.M. Sat., Feb. 19, at Saron United Church of Christ in Linton, Reverend Mike Roth officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton where military graveside rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 22 of Linton.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. Friday at Welch and Cornett Funeral Home in Linton and after 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
