Ernest Elwood "Woody" Wilkin, 83, passed away at 2 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011 at the Lyons Health and Living Center.

He was born May 7, 1927 to Clarence and Lola (Paul) Wilkin in Daviess County, and he married Donna Palmer on Sept. 14, 1953.

He was a cheese maker at Graham Cheese Company for 35 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Odon VFW and Elnora American Legion, and was a charter member of the White River Valley Antique Association.

He was a member of the Army during the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife; son, Ed Wilkin of Bloomfield; three daughters, Susan (RT) Greene of Fort Wayne, Connie Wilkin of Bloomington, and Judy (Brian) Thrasher of Worthington, and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, five sisters, and grandson Justin Wilkin.

Friends my call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the Elnora Christian Church, and until the time of service at the church at 1 p.m. on Tuesday with the Rev. Don Reed officiating.

Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.

There will be graveside military rites by Odon VFW and Elnora American Legion.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in lieu of flowers.
