Robert F."Bob" Vierling, 91, of Seymour, passed away at St. Francis Hospital and Health Center, Beech Grove IN, on March 4, 2010, at 8:35 p.m.
He was born on March 29, 1919, at Batesville, the son of Elmer and Mary Helschel Vierling.
He was a World War II veteran, having served in the US. Army. Bob was married to Louise Sager on Oct. 19, 1940, at Seymour. He was employed as a supervisor for Cummins Engine, Columbus, for 30 years, retiring in 1977.
He was a member of Central Christian Church and a former member of Seymour Lions Club and the Seymour Country Club. Bob enjoyed golf, fishing, woodworking and creating stained glass art.
He is survived by his wife, of 70 years, two daughters; Judith Ingala, of Bloomington, Sue Ann (David K.) Johnson, of Bloomfield, five grandchildren; David A. Ingala, Independence KY, Michael (Annee) Ingala, Portland OR, Renee (Bill) McIntosh, Bloomfield, Ryan Johnson and
Chris Johnson, both of Indianapolis, and six great grandchildren; David M., Lily and River Ingala, Marisa, Wyatt, and Lance McIntosh.
His parents, two sisters, Helen and Vivian, and two brothers, Gilbert and Leonard preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, at Burkholder Funeral Chapel in Seymour, with Revs. Lewis Wright and James Hudson, officiating.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 8, from 4 pm until 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 1 pm until time of service.
Graveside military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post #89, V.F.W. #1925, D.A.V. #47 & Vietnam Vets #7, all of Seymour, with burial at Riverview Cemetery after the service.
