Norman Wright
Norman Arthur Wright, 79, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 after a long fight with cancer. He was born on July 14, 1931, in Bloomfield, Ind. to Virgil and Jennie (McAtee) Wright. He graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1949.

Wright is survived by his daughter, Julia Anne Serfass (Tim) of Doswell, Virginia; a son, James Arthur, Terre Haute; two grandsons, Sean Korsgaard and Clark Korsgaard of Doswell, Va; a brother Maurice (Jean) of Greenwood; and his life long friend and ex-wife Mary of Terre Haute as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Also surviving are an aunt, Vivian Forst of Knightstown, Ind. and several cousins.

After graduating from high school Wright worked at RCA in Bloomington before enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1951. While in the Air Force, Wright graduated with honors from several Air Force aircraft repair assignments. After his discharge in 1955, he returned to RCA before attending the Bradley University School of Horology (Watchmaking) in 1957-1958. He was employed in that profession until 1964 when he went to work in Richmond, Ind., for Avco, calibrating the warhead on the Minute Man Missile. When the contract was transferred to Magnavox in Urbana, Ill., he moved there with his family. He attended Parkland Community College in Champaign, Ill., and earned an associate's degree in microprecision technology. He joined Meadow Gold in 1974 and retired from there in 1994.

Mr. Wright was a loving father and grandfather. He especially enjoyed Indiana basketball, Colts football, mushrooming, and fishing. He was a devoted pet owner and leaves behind a devoted pet, Cammie. He was a good man who was loved and respected by all who knew him and he will be missed greatly.

Graveside funeral rites will be held at Grandview Cemetery in Bloomfield, Ind., on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date for his friends and family.

Arrangements are being handled by Jenkins and Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Ind. The family requests no flowers. Memorial donations in his honor should be made in honor of his beloved pet, Cammie, to the Vigo County Animal Coalition, P.O. Box 2132, Terre Haute, IN. 47802.
