NJROTC unit completes 'very good' inspection

Wednesday, March 9, 2011

The Bloomfield Senior High School Navy Junior ROTC unit conducted the Area Manager's Inspection (AMI) on Wednesday morning. The event featured Personnel Inspection and Pass in Review.

The AMI is conducted every two years and was conducted by Commander George B. Clifford, U.S. Navy retired. Commander Clifford is the NJROTC Area 03 Area Manager stationed at Naval Service Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

The inspection focused on all aspects of the program including academics and classrooms, discipline, marching, leadership, military courtesies and protocol, government materials and equipment inventory, storage rooms, career development and mentoring.

In the top photo, the Bloomfield Rifle Corps demonstrates one of its routines. In the lower photo, Cadet Brandi Blakely's shoes are closely inspected by Commander Clifford while recorder Julie Martin looks on.

Clifford commented that the Bloomfield inspection very impressive and was in the 'top 3' in his entire region, which includes more than 45 schools.

  • This is such an awesome program that teaches not only about our armed forces and government (and respect for them) but incredibly important character values that so many of our young people are missing. Sergeant Major White and Lieutenant Commander Starr have done a top-notch job with this growing group of cadets. Way to go!

  • I agree maybe some of the other local schools should think about the JROTC. Great opportunity for our young people!
